OVULATION INDUCTION/IUI/IVF Clinic
In an IVF(in vitro fertilisation ) cycle, controlled ovarian hyperstimulation is done with Injections, i.e. instead of 2-3 mature follicle, we make sure we get atleast 8-10 mature follicles. Once the follicles are mature, the eggs are retrieved under ultrasound guidance and mixed with husband’s semen in the lab. This is called IVF. At the same stage sperms could also be directly injected into the oocyte or egg to result in fertilisation (Intracytoplasmic sperm injection, ICSI). The fertilisation or the fusion is checked for later and the embryos formed are grown in culture for 2-5days in the lab. This fusion and growth happen in the fallopian tube in the female body in another wise natural cycle. According to the growth of the embryos, and the patient characteristics, embryo transfer is done in the same cycle(fresh embryo transfer) or in another cycle (frozen embryo transfer).Embryos are chosen based on the grading and the best embryos usually 1-2 are transferred.
